The young woman flung the door open and stepped into the police station. Her high-heeled boots clicked on the tiles as she quickly crossed to the officer behind the desk.
Her face was painted with worry as a tear slid down her cheek, “Please, you have to help me. I can’t find my husband!”
The officer took out his notepad, “How long has he been missing?”
The woman brushed the tear from her cheek with her fingers. “Since yesterday — and there’s this creepy guy with a beer gut following me!”
The officer looked up from his scribbling at her fearful expression. “You’re being followed?”
She looked over her shoulder toward the door, then back to the officer with huge eyes. Her voice low with a frantic urgency, “There he is! Do something!”
The officer stood, his hand hovering over his pistol as the man noticed the young lady and strode over.
The man looked from the woman to the officer and back again. “There you are. You forgot your glasses, Babe.” The man held out a pair of glasses with rose-colored lenses.
The officer let his hand relax and smiled knowingly at the young woman. “Ma’am, you need to put your love goggles back on.”
The lady looked at the officer in confusion, then at the young man holding out the glasses. Another reaffirming glance at the officer who smiled kindly and nodded toward the young man, she reluctantly took the offered glasses.
Pushing the glasses up her nose, she looked at her stalker. “Jacob! Where have you been?!” She threw her arms around her husband and kissed him repeatedly.
When he was able to catch his breath, “I’ve been trying to give you your glasses when you forgot them but you’ve been running everywhere. Literally.”
The woman, confused once again, looked from her beloved husband to the officer.
The officer smiled, seeing this situation before. “Ma’am, the glasses — or love goggles, allow you to see through the eyes of pure love.”

This is very cute and well-written. These days, it's fun to read something that has a truly happy ending without some sort of hook.
